Dhumavati Ashtak Stotra of Goddess Dhumavati is highly respected in the context of enemy-mitigation, mitigation of obstacle and destruction of evil planets and poverty. The seeker who keeps the text of this psalm in three nights with a concentrated and devoted spirit, his enemy remains silent watching him. His good fortune emerges and pride of the enemy is broken. The biggest thing is that Bhagawati gets the grace and perseverance of Bhagawati that good fortune.

According to Devi Bhagavata Mahapuran, she is the one who created the universe, the one preserving it and the one who will destroy it. Her avatars are worshipped to acquire all sorts of power and knowledge. The deities include

Kali, Tara, Shodhashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala

Dhumavati

is the seventh form of Adi Prashakti. She is known to represent death, hunger, poverty, disease and all other sorts of negativeness and in-auspiciousness. A strange legend from Pranatoshini Tantra explains her origin. Dhumavati, previously known as Devi Sati, was the first wife of Lord Shiva. Once, she asked Shiva to get her something to eat. As they were in the Himalayas, he wasn’t able to fulfill her wish. Out of extreme hunger, she engulfed Shiva itself, and by doing so, she widowed herself.

The Ten Mahavidyas namely

Mahakali, Tara, Chinnamasta, Bhuvaneshwari, Bagalamukhi, Dhumavati, Tripur Sundari, Matangi, Shodhashi and Tripur Bhairavi

are regarded as the Ten Shakti of Bhagawati Parvati. Among Ten Mahavidyas, Five are of Satvik Bhav and another Five are of Taamasik Bhav or Tantrokta Bhav. Mahavidya Dhumavati is described as very furious, fearing and active Goddess among Ten Mahavidyas. She is tall and grim, pallid, agitated and slovenly. Her hair is tangled, her breasts droop and her teeth are gone. Her nose is big, her body and eyes crooked, horrid and quarrelsome.

ॐ प्रातर्वा स्यात कुमारी कुसुम-कलिकया जप-मालां जपन्ती ।

मध्यान्हे प्रौढ-रुपा विकसित-वदना चारु-नेत्रा निशायाम ।।

सन्ध्यायां ब्रिद्ध-रुपा गलीत-कुच-युगा मुण्ड-मालां वहन्ती ।

सा देवी देव-देवी त्रिभुवन-जननी चण्डिका पातु युष्मान ।। 1 ।।

बद्ध्वा खट्वाङ्ग कोटौ कपिल दर जटा मण्डलं पद्म योने: ।

कृत्वा दैत्योत्तमाङ्गै: स्रजमुरसी शिर: शेखरं ताक्ष्र्य पक्षै: ।।

पूर्ण रक्त्तै: सुराणां यम महिष-महा-श्रिङ्गमादाय पाणौ ।

पायाद वौ वन्ध मान: प्रलय मुदितया भैरव: काल रात्र्या ।। 2 ।।

चर्वन्ती ग्रन्थी खण्ड प्रकट कट कटा शब्द संघातमुग्रम ।

चर्वन्ती चण्ड मुण्डं मट मट मटितं चर्वयन्ती पुनातु ।। 4 ।।

वामे कर्णे म्रिगाङ्कं प्रलया परीगतं दक्षिणे सुर्य बिम्बम् ।

कण्डे नक्षत्र हारं वर विकट जटा जुटके मुण्ड मालम् ।।

स्कन्धे कृत्वोरगेन्द्र ध्वज निकर युतं ब्रह्म कङ्काल भारम् ।

संहारे धारयन्ती मम हरतु भयं भद्रदा भद्र काली ।। 5 ।।

तैलोभ्यक्तैक वेणी त्रयु मय विलसत् कर्णिकाक्रान्त कर्णा ।

लोहेनैकेन् कृत्वा चरण नलिन कामात्मन: पाद शोभाम् ।।

दिग् वासा रासभेन ग्रसती जगादिदं या जवा कर्ण पुरा ।

वर्षिण्युर्ध्व प्रब्रिद्धा ध्वज वितत भुजा साSसी देवी त्वमेव ।। 6 ।।

संग्रामे हेती कृत्तै: स रुधिर दर्शनैर्यद् भटानां शिरोभी ।

र्मालामाबध्य मुर्घ्नी ध्वज वितत भुजा त्वं श्मशाने प्रविष्टा ।।

दृंष्ट्वा भुतै: प्रभुतै: प्रिथु जघन घना बद्ध नागेन्द्र कान्ञ्ची ।

शुलाग्र व्यग्र हस्ता मधु रुधिर मदा ताम्र नेत्रा निशायाम् ।। 7 ।।

दंष्ट्रा रौद्रे मुखे स्मिंस्तव विशती जगद् देवी! सर्व क्षणार्ध्दात्सं ।

सारस्यान्त काले नर रुधिर वसा सम्प्लवे धुम धुम्रे ।।

काली कापालिकी त्वं शव शयन रता योगिनी योग मुद्रा ।

रक्त्ता ॠद्धी कुमारी मरण भव हरा त्वं शिवा चण्ड धण्टा ।। 8 ।।

ॐ धुमावत्यष्टकं पुण्यं, सर्वापद् विनिवारकम् ।

य: पठेत् साधको भक्तया, सिद्धीं विन्दती वंदिताम् ।। 1 ।।

महा पदी महा घोरे महा रोगे महा रणे ।

शत्रुच्चाटे मारणादौ, जन्तुनां मोहने तथा ।। 2 ।।

पठेत् स्तोत्रमिदं देवी! सर्वत्र सिद्धी भाग् भवेत् ।

देव दानव गन्धर्व यक्ष राक्षरा पन्नगा: ।। 3 ।।

सिंह व्याघ्रदिका: सर्वे स्तोत्र स्मरण मात्रत: ।

दुराद् दुर तरं यान्ती किं पुनर्मानुषादय: ।। 4 ।।

स्तोत्रेणानेन देवेशी! किं न सिद्धयती भु तले ।

सर्व शान्तीर्भवेद्! चानते निर्वाणतां व्रजेत् ।। 5 ।।
